The Journey of Lakadong Turmeric: From Meghalaya Farms to Your Kitchen

More Than Just a Spice

Have you ever wondered where the spice in your kitchen actually begins?

Before turmeric reaches a packet on a shelf, it starts much earlier — with the crop, the people who grow and handle it, and the many steps involved in preparing it.

At Aaroti Agro Farm, our journey began with a simple idea: to bring carefully selected products from Northeast India closer to households across India.

Our journey starts with Lakadong turmeric from Meghalaya, a variety known for its distinctive colour, aroma and naturally high curcumin content.

But getting from the turmeric fields of Meghalaya to your kitchen involves much more than simply grinding a spice.

Where Our Journey Begins

The Northeast of India is home to a wide variety of agricultural products, shaped by its climate, soil and farming traditions.

For Aaroti Agro Farm, Meghalaya holds a special place in this journey.

Our Lakadong turmeric is sourced from Shangpung in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, where turmeric has long been part of the region's agricultural tradition.

We believe that when you know where a product comes from, you can better understand and appreciate what goes into it.

From Turmeric to Carefully Prepared Slices

Once the turmeric is harvested, it goes through several stages before it becomes the familiar powder found in our kitchens.

The turmeric is prepared and sliced before being taken through the drying and processing stages.

This is where careful handling becomes important.

The image  represents an important part of the journey — people working carefully with the product during processing.

For us, this is not just about producing a powder. It is about paying attention to the product at every stage before it reaches the final pack.

Preparing the Turmeric for the Next Stage

After preparation, the turmeric moves through the drying process.

Proper drying is an important step because the turmeric needs to be prepared carefully before further processing.

This stage may look simple, but it forms an important part of the journey from fresh turmeric to a product that can eventually be processed into powder.

Every stage — from preparation and drying to grinding and packing — contributes to the quality of the final product.

Why Lakadong Turmeric?

Our first product is Lakadong Turmeric Powder, sourced from Meghalaya.

Lakadong turmeric is particularly known for its naturally high curcumin content compared with many commonly available turmeric varieties.

But we believe that a good product should be more than a number on a label.

The colour, aroma, origin and way the product is handled all form part of its story.

That is why we want customers to know not only what is inside the packet, but also where it came from and how it reached them.

From Northeast India to Your Kitchen

At Aaroti Agro Farm, our goal is simple: to make carefully selected products from Northeast India more accessible to customers beyond the region.

We are starting with Lakadong turmeric, but our journey does not end there.

As we grow, we hope to introduce more products that represent the agricultural diversity and character of Northeast India.

For us, every product has a journey.

It begins with the land, continues through careful handling and processing, and finally reaches your kitchen.

And we believe you should be able to know that journey.

Our Journey Is Just Beginning

Aaroti Agro Farm is a growing brand, and this is only the beginning.

With every product we introduce, our aim is to maintain a simple principle:

Know where it comes from. Handle it with care. And bring it to you with honesty.

From Meghalaya to your kitchen, thank you for being part of the Aaroti Agro Farm journey.
